Health & Social Well-being

Good health is essential for sustainable development and human dignity. EmpowerNet Uganda works to improve health standards through community education, preventive healthcare, and partnerships with Village Health Teams (VHTs). Our programs focus on HIV/AIDS awareness, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and health equity for marginalized populations.

Uganda has made progress in reducing HIV prevalence, but approximately 1.4 million people still live with HIV, making awareness and prevention critical. Through education, testing, and counseling, we help communities adopt safer practices and reduce stigma, contributing to the national fight against HIV/AIDS and supporting SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-being.

Maternal health is a major priority. According to global estimates, about 800 women die every day from preventable pregnancy-related causes, many in low-income countries. Encouraging antenatal care attendance and facility-based deliveries significantly reduces maternal and newborn deaths. Through collaboration with VHTs, we educate mothers on nutrition, immunization, and safe delivery practices, helping families make informed health decisions. Healthier mothers and children lead to stronger families, more productive communities, and reduced national healthcare costs.
