Economic empowerment is essential for breaking the cycle of poverty. EmpowerNet Uganda equips women, youth, and smallholder farmers with the skills and resources needed to build sustainable livelihoods. According to the World Bank, growth in agriculture is up to four times more effective in reducing poverty than growth in other sectors in low-income countries.
We provide training in poultry keeping, goat rearing, fish farming, and modern farming practices such as mulching and terrace farming—techniques that increase yields and reduce climate risks. Smallholder farmers produce over 70% of the world’s food, yet many struggle with low productivity and limited market access. By training farmers in value addition and business skills, we help households earn more from their produce and build financial resilience.
Our savings and credit initiatives encourage financial literacy and community savings groups, enabling families to access small loans for business growth. We also distribute coffee and cocoa seedlings—two high-value crops that can significantly increase household income. These initiatives strengthen household financial stability, reduce reliance on aid, and contribute to Uganda’s agricultural economy and global food security.
